LAHAD DATU: A new unloading system called Grab Bulk Unloading (GBU) which begins operations this week is expected to double the speed of unloading dry cargo.Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Chairman, Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee (pic), said by February, they expected another GBU to begin operations and the volume to grow up to four times faster compared to the previous system.
Yong said GBU is more efficient as it would lead to faster turnaround for the vessels, less spillage and cost-saving.
“Eventually, this will encourage traders to bring in bigger vessels which also mean cost-saving,” said Yong, after he activated the GBU during his visit to POIC Lahad Datu, Monday.
