Couple saved from watery death
The couple’s vehicle was swept away by the flooding of the Mongitom river but the two victims were rescued by the public in Monday’s incident.
KENINGAU: A couple nearly suffered a similar fate on Monday as a father who lost two children who were swept away by strong currents when crossing a river here, last November.

They were in a vehicle trying to cross a low level crossing bridge and survived being swept away by the floodwaters of the Mongitom river with the help of the public using a rope.

The Fire Department was informed of the incident at 1.13am but the couple was nowhere to be seen by then, said Head of the District Fire and Rescue Station, Mudi Pengiran.

He said they were informed of the incident by a tow truck operator.
