PENAMPANG: The Taskforce Against Kaiduan Dam (Takad) expressed disappointment over Deputy Chief Minister cum Works Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s statement that the mega dam project the previous government had proposed to build in Papar will revert to Penampang. “We are very disappointed…he seems to have forgotten about the government responsibility towards the environment and native customary land rights.
“He also seems to ignore the recommendation of his party’s Advisory Board Chairman who had rejected the construction of the said dam.
“On Sept. 30, 2020, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak suggested that the new State Government cancel the proposed Papar Dam project awarded by the previous Warisan Plus government via direct negotiation to a company from Semenanjung linked to the tunnel project in Penang together with a new small company which was also involved in a corruption case in the court.
