KENINGAU: State Assistant Minister of Works, Datuk Robert Tawik has instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to take action to overcome the problem of drainage  in this district.

He believes some of the drains that have been built for a long time are no longer suitable and need to be upgraded to cope with the flash floods that occur when it rains.

“The old system needs to be replaced  by using the box culvert so that it does not become clogged when there is a flash flood,” he said after  inspecting the problems faced by the residents of Taman Seri housing here.

Residents of this housing estate often faced flash floods due to the ditches near the area.
