Restrictions for 23 Indonesian regions under red zone
JAKARTA: The Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) will be implemented in the capital city of Jakarta along with other 23 regencies and cities across six provinces that are classified as Covid-19 red zones.

“The government will continue to monitor the implementation of the restriction of public mobility through intensive evaluation and monitoring,” said Airlangga Hartarto.

Jakarta will see the PSBB enacted on January 11 and will last until January 25. Other provinces subjected to the restriction include West Java, Banten, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java, after the government deemed the regions had fulfilled the parameters for the implementation of PSBB.

The parameters are death rate above the national average mortality rate of 3 per cent, recovery rate below the national average of 82 per cent, active cases rate of more than 14 per cent, and hospital/ICU beds capacity exceeding 70 per cent.

This effectively restricts workplace activities and the implementation of a 75 per cent work from home (WFH) policy which greatly encourages people to remain at home to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 infections.
