Covid-19: Sarawak records highest daily cases at 55

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 55 new Covid-19 cases Saturday, the highest in the State so far.

The latest infections take the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 1,251.

The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), in a statement, said from the total daily positive cases Saturday, 37 cases were detected in Sibu, 15 in Kuching, two in Miri and one in Bintulu.

The earlier highest daily total recorded was 32 cases on April 1 2020.

According to JPBN, the Sarawak Health Department on Saturday detected a new cluster which is the Pasai cluster in Sibu and Mukah districts which was the largest contributor of positive cases on Saturday.

“As at noon yesterday (Friday), 73 individuals have been screened (in the cluster) with 38 detected positive for Covid-19 (not including the index case), while 27 individuals are still waiting for results,” said JPBN.
