LABUAN: Datuk Rozman Isli (pic) hopes the idea mooted by late Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz Hamid to have Asean University established here will be considered and implemented.

He said an Asean university would serve as a tangible symbol of Asean cooperation and solidarity, as well as spin off other benefits.

The Labuan Member of Parliament said this in reference to a Daily Express report on Dec 21 which stated that Ungku Aziz had tossed the idea 43 years ago.

“Although the proposal was made more than four decades ago, it is still relevant and more suited for Labuan mow as its infrastructure has been sufficiently developed. Adding to this is the island’s peaceful atmosphere which offers a conducive environment,” he said.
