RM169,400 graft: Civil servant pleads guilty

Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court set Feb 25 for sentencing of a 49-year-old public servant charged with corruptly accepting RM169,400 from a contractor.

Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat set the date for Rupia @ Rubee Gindol who changed her plea and admitted to the charge against her.

Rupia is accused of receiving the money from one Berry Yong Soon, 35, at the CIMB bank in Api-Api Centre, here between 2018 and 2019.

The charge stated that Rupia as the Community Development Assistant received the money, which has relation to her job at the General Welfare Services.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nartiah M Sambatan of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared for the prosecution while Rupia was represented by counsel Chong Kian Min.
