Logging allowed to continue during MCO

Kota Kinabalu: Upstream and downstream forestry operations are allowed to resume during the current Movement Control Order (MCO), announced State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun Thursday.

He said the permitted operating hours are from 6am to 6pm on Monday to Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday, it is subject to approval by the District Forestry Officer.

Among the upstream forestry activities allowed are logging, forest plantation development, forest rehabilitation, forest inventory and silviculture treatment, while downstream activities allowed are factory and export/import.
Masidi, who is also Sabah’s official Covid-19 spokesperson, said such operations should involve only 50 per cent support staff and 30 per cent office management level employees at one time.
