BEAUFORT: Snakes are having a slithering time here as the District Fire and Rescue Department caught five in a week.

Beaufort Fire and Rescue chief Mohammad Hasbollah Nenggok reminded the people to be extra careful by ensuring their house surroundings and storage areas are clean to prevent snakes from hiding there.

“The public should also ensure that their children play in a safe place, and if needed, they can sprinkle sulphur powder around their house compound to prevent these reptiles from entering them,” he said.

On Friday, he said, the Fire and Rescue personnel were called to catch a 3.5-metre python in Kampung Gerama, while a day earlier, they caught a mangrove snake in Kampung Muhibbah after catching another python in Kampung Klias Kecil.
