Rains leave trail of destruction
Road collapse at the Penampang-Tambunan Road at Kampung Tudan, Penampang.
Kota Kinabalu: Power outages, water shortages, landslides and at least 25 damaged roads were the order of the day in Sabah’s west coast following rain and strong winds compounded by high tide since Saturday.

Motorists plying a stretch near Kg Tudan in Penampang were left stranded as an embankment failure was reported along Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Keningau-Tenom with the damage measuring 50 metres long and four metres wide, Sunday.

Lintasan Resource Sdn Bhd reported that the 12.30pm incident involved a depth of two to three metres resulting in the stretch being inaccessible to vehicles – no thanks to the continuous rain.
No injury or vehicle damage were reported along the stretch, while motorists have been advised to take the Jalan Kimanis-Keningau alternative route.
