Probe into flyover ‘dislocation’
The Luyang flyover had a crack problem.
Kota Kinabalu: The Public Works Department is conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the root cause of the New Jersey Barriers (Side Barriers) at the Jalan Lintas flyover near Hilltop in Luyang which appeared to be cracked and dislocated.

Many have expressed concern after photos of the “cracks” went viral on social media early Sunday.

The Department’s Deputy Director, Philemon Lajawai, said:
“We have been closely monitoring this for the past three weeks and more so during these rainy days.

“Appropriate action will be taken if the condition further deteriorates.  In the meantime there is no urgent need for total closure of the slip road. As a precautionary measure, one lane (slow) on the flyover and one lane (fast) on the bottom slip road have been temporarily closed.

“An in-depth investigation is still on-going to determine the root cause of the problems and to come up with a long-term solution.  A short-term solution has also been recommended and in the process of finalisation for implementation,” said Lajawai.
