Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Fishing Boat’s Owner Association (KKFBOA) fully supports the State Government effort to get back the rights of Sabah, as enshrined within the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), as this will also spur fisheries in the State.
This is especially in terms of licensing and export of fish produce in the form of live, fresh, frozen, dried and fish value-added products, it said in a statement.

The association also supported the proposal to build an I-Port Fisheries Complex as proposed by the previous government because this can draw local and foreign investors to venture in the fisheries industry, especially fish-based downstream processing, in the State.
KKFBOA also hopes the Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn Bhd (Safma) management would upgrade the fish landing jetty and support service facilities at its fisheries complex here to enable it to cope with the increasing number of fishing vessels using the facility, especially during the peak season from March to November.
