Covid-19: 11 deaths, 3,346 new cases nationwide, 431 in Sabah
PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 3,446 Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 4,427 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 141,446.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 183,801.

There are 41,667 active cases with 265 patients being treated in intensive care and 102 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 11 deaths bring the death toll to 678.

Out of the 11 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, three were from Sarawak and two from Sabah. One was a foreigner.

Of the new cases, Selangor reported the highest number of cases (950), out of which 805 were from clusters and close contacts.

This was followed by Sabah (431) and Kuala Lumpur (390).

Of the total new cases, 242 were from prison, lock-up, detention centre clusters — Jalan Harapan (138), Damai Pelangi (57), Sungai Jelok (22), Tembok Mempaga (9), Tenpok Taiping (6), Tembok Renggam (3), Seberang Perai (3), Tembok Kemus (3) and Tembok Sungai Udang (1).

The health ministry reported nine new clusters in the last 24 hours.

The clusters were from Sabah, Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said eight clusters originated from workplaces while one was from a detention centre.

The workplace clusters are Ladang Segama (Sabah), Jalan Segama (Sabah), Keluli Tujuh (Johor), Jalan Tengar (Johor), Jalan Sebelas (Selangor), Bukit Emas (Negeri Sembilan), Sri Petaling construction site (Kuala Lumpur), and Flora construction site (Putrajaya).

The detention centre cluster is in Tembok Taiping (Perak).

Noor Hisham added there are still 348 active clusters while 385 clusters have officially ended.
