Duo charged with trafficking syabu

Kota Kinabalu: A foreigner and a local were charged with trafficking 75.7gm of syabu.Foreigner Munap Maulana and Murphy Roger were brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to face the charge against them on Monday.

However, no plea was taken from them pending the chemist report on the drug and that their plea would be recorded at the High Court.
The duo is accused of trafficking the drug at 10.30am on Jan 14 this year in front of a hut at Kg Lok Buno in Sepangar near here.
The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code carries the life imprisonment or death sentence, and whipping at least 15 strokes, on conviction.
The court set March 8 this year for mention and no bail was offered to them pending the date.

Meanwhile, Murphy is also facing another charge of having 0.1gm of similar drug on the same day and place.
Murphy’s plea was also not recorded pending the chemist’s report on the drug and that the same date had been fixed for mention of the case.

He pleaded guilty to taking the drug after his urine tested positive for drug at the police hut in Indah Permai, Manggatal.
The court ordered Murphy to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and be placed under police and National Anti- Drug Agency supervision for two years after completing his jail sentence.
