Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man was charged with causing hurt to a woman while robbing her of her mobile phone.
Mohd Hidayat Hashim, however, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Egusra Ali, to the charge against him on Monday.
The proceedings was conducted via Zoom.
He is accused of assaulting one Zuraini Zulkiflee Lee while robbing her of her handphone.
The crime allegedly took place at 4.10am on Oct 14, 2020 at a house in Kg Sungai Labu, Labuan.
The offence under Section 394 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court set Feb 22 for case management and ordered Mohd Hidayat to be remanded in Kapayan Prison pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Adibah Shaiful Bahri appeared for the prosecution.
