Driving, vehicle licence exemptions until March 31
Kuala Lumpur: The government has granted exemptions to all private vehicle owners on renewal of their motor vehicle licence (LKM) and competent driving licence (CDL) from Feb 1 until March 31.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong in a statement today said drivers must however have a valid motor vehicle insurance and display their e-cover notes on their vehicles or present it to traffic enforcement personnel upon request.

“Those whose LKM and CDL have expired  or will be expiring, must renew their respective licences within 30 days after the exemption period or until April 30, 2021," said Wee.

Wee said the exemption was given to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) as stipulated by the National Security Council (MKN) to reduce congestion in public places.

However, the exemption is not extended to Commercial Vehicle owners and Vocational Licence holders (GDL and PSV) as their related renewal services are allowed to operate as Essential Services during the MCO period.

Initially exemption to renew LKM and CDL was extended from March 25 to Sept 30 last year during MCO 1.0.

Wee also reminded the public to drive safely, be responsible drivers and comply with the SOPs as set by MKN during the MCO period.
