Army distributes aid to quake refugees by chopper
WEST SULAWESI: The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) distributed humanitarian aid (pic) among refugees of the January 15’s powerful earthquake in an isolated area in Mamuju district using a helicopter.

“TNI AD will continue to distribute aid among earthquake refugees in isolated areas in Mamuju district using a helicopter,” Commander of the Mamuju District Military Command Colonel Aji Sartono said.

The isolated areas are located in Tapalang sub-district, Mamuju district, West Sulawesi province

“The areas are difficult to reach by land, either by four-wheeled or two-wheeled vehicles, as the landslides caused by the earthquake have covered the road leading to the isolated areas,” he said.

The number of refugees in Mamuju and Majene districts which bore brunt of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake on January 15, 2021 currently reaches more than 91 thousand.

At least 100 people lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries following the quake.
