Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali (pic) defended the action taken in compounding eight rural Tenom residents RM1,000 each for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) recently. Hazani said action had to be taken as the eight were in a kereta sapu (illegal taxi) and clearly violated the SOP. He said while he sympathised with the villagers as they may not have fully understood the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), police were merely carrying out their duty during the MCO period to uphold the law.
