Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases dip below 4,000-mark to 3,391, but 19 new deaths recorded
Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Health recorded a dip in the Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with 3,391 new infections compared to 4,571 cases yesterday.

However, the country also recorded 19 new fatalities related to Covid-19, making the cumulative death tally at 845.

Currently, Malaysia has 48,751 active Covid-19 cases with 310 patients under intensive care with 134 cases needing breathing aid.

Selangor still tops the list of states that recorded the most infection in the past 24 hours at 1,288 cases, followed by Johor at 598 cases and the Federal Territories at 395 cases.

To date, Selangor recorded the most Covid-19 cases at 75,297, followed by Sabah at 49,981, Federal Territories at 28,449, Johor at 25,560, and Negri Sembilan at 12,169, with the rest of the states still records four-digit figures.

The Ministry of Health also reported 3,392 new recoveries in the last day, with a cumulative recovery case 185,278 from 234,874 total Covid-19 infections recorded nationwide.

Only four cases were imported, involving two locals and two non-nationals.

The death cases recorded in the past day involves seven cases in the Federal Territory, five cases in Sabah, three cases each in Selangor and Sarawak, and one case in Perak.

The Ministry of Health said today it has recorded 15 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, with 12 of them detected within workplaces.

These 12 clusters are spread out in seven states in the Peninsular, with five alone detected in Selangor.

Two other clusters were detected within the community, namely the Hikmah Muadzam and Taman Murni cluster, both located in Pahang, while one other cluster is traced back to a high-risk group in the Federal Territories.

Malaysia recorded 3,391 new cases overall today, with Selangor still leading the number of cases at 1,228.

This included 165 cases from existing clusters, with 46 infections detected in the new five clusters: Jalan Mokhtar, Bandar Teknologi, Jalan Enam Belas, Persiaran Jaya, and the Jalan Lima.

Most notable clusters were the Jalan Mokhtar in Klang and the Jalan Enam Belas in Subang Jaya, where both were traced back to a supermarket.

Collectively 144 people have been screened in both clusters, with 67 cases so far are confirmed Covid-19 positive.

Other notable clusters were the Jalan Rumbia Dua in Johor Baru and Sri Sengkang in Kulai, where both clusters were traced back to factories.

The Sri Sengkang cluster have so far screened 183 individuals with 133 of them found to be Covid-19 positive, while the Jalan Rumbia Dua have seen 694 individuals screened and 126 were positive.

In the Federal Territory, the high risk cluster detected through targeted screening was located in Cheras and was traced back to a care home. 

Named the Jalan Jubilee cluster, it has screened 39 individuals so far, with 25 of them are Covid-19 positive.
