‘Local visitors wouldn’t help us’
KUNAK: The Kunak Tourism and Culture Association said most industry players may not recover if certain restrictions are continued even though the sector will be allowed to open to the public.

Its Chairman Mohd Hata Arabi said local visitors alone won’t help the industry players including central or recreational park operators, homestay operators, transport and tourist guides.

“I hope more effective mechanism is put in place where the association itself should think a method for those involved to be assisted by the government or at least there is flexibility across the district to allow tourists to ‘breathe again’.

“Most of them are involved in transportation activities, home stay operators and recreation centres that face very difficult times due to the pandemic,” he said.
