Kota Kinabalu: Despite the relaxation of tourism and cultural activities announced last week, major tourism and cultural spots in the State Capital have yet to be opened to the public.
A visit to the State Museum here on Wednesday found that the facility is still closed, with temporary closure notices at the gate and entrance to the premises.
It is stated that the museum is closed to visitors during the Movement Control Order until further notice.
A similar scene was found at the Sabah Art Gallery nearby, where notices have been pasted at the front door informing the public about the closure.
No information from both premises were obtained on when they will be re-opening their doors.
In Kuala Lumpur last week, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the rules easing for these sectors in conditional and recovery MCO areas starting Feb 19 with 50pc capacity.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, located about 45 minutes’ drive from Kota Kinabalu, said the park is also still closed to the public.
“If we are open, it will be simultaneously with the Sepilok Orang Utan conservation centre (in Sandakan). We are awaiting further directives,” said the spokesman.
