PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected nine new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said all nine of them are workplace clusters,
FMT reported.
Four clusters were detected in Johor, three in Selangor and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Clusters that recorded the highest spike in cases today are the Perusahaan Jalan Bukit (262), Bukit Kiara Construction Site (180) and Jalan Tasek Avenue (166) clusters.
The nine new clusters are:
Johor
- Jalan Timah Tiga – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The index case tested positive on Feb 21 in a screening after exhibiting symptoms. The other cases in the cluster tested positive in close contact screenings. It involves a factory at Jalan Timah 3, Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate. A total of 255 people have been screened with 31 found positive.
- Jalan Tanjung Empat – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The first few cases were found positive on Feb 23 after workers in a factory at Jalan Tanjung A/4, Gelang Patah were screened. Some 66 people have been screened with 28 testing positive.
- Jalan Desa Tropika – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The index cases tested positive today after workers in a factory at Jalan Desa Tropika 1/1, Tropika Industrial Park were screened. A total of 21 people have been screened with 10 found positive.
- Batu Empat – a workplace cluster in Batu Pahat. The first case was found positive on Feb 22 in a screening prior to returning to their home country. It involves a factory at Batu 4, Jalan Kluang. Some 55 people have been screened with eight testing positive.
Selangor
- Perusahaan Jalan Bukit – a workplace cluster in Hulu Langat. The index cases tested positive today after workers in a factory at Kawasan Perusahaan Bukit Angkat, Kajang were screened. A total of 699 people have been screened with 262 found positive.
- Industri Waja – a workplace cluster in Kuala Langat. The first few cases were found positive on Feb 26 after workers in a factory at Jalan Waja 16, Telok Panglima Industrial Area in Garang were screened. Some 248 people have been screened with 45 testing positive.
- Jalan Selisik – a workplace cluster involving Petaling and Kuala Selangor. The index cases tested positive on Feb 1 after workers in a factory at Jalan Selisik, Shah Alam were screened. A total of 32 people have been screened with 17 found positive.
Kuala Lumpur
- Bukit Kiara Construction Site – a workplace cluster in Kepong. The first few cases were found positive on Feb 25 after workers in a construction site at Jalan Bukit Kiara 1 were screened. Some 250 people have been screened with 181 testing positive.
Penang
- Jalan Sungai Baong – a workplace cluster in South Seberang Perai. The index cases tested positive on Feb 24 after workers in a factory at Jalan Sungai Baong, Furniture Industrial Estate were screened. A total of 93 people have been screened with 40 found positive.
Clusters closed
Three clusters officially ended today. They are the Jalan Rami Tiga, Lingkaran Maluri and Sri Plentong clusters. There are now 491 active clusters of the total 1,138 reported.
