Kota Kinabalu: A 34-year-old Filipino was sentenced to 18 months’ jail on Monday for disposing stolen items.
Willy Kabumani pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to two counts of the offence under Section 414 of the Penal Code.
He was handed 18 months’ jail on each count of disposing two stolen aluminium irons in October 2020 at a house in Kg Pondo, Pulau Gaya.
Each count carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine, or both, on conviction.
Willy was ordered to serve the jail terms concurrently and also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.
On Dec 18 last year, Willy was jailed four months by the Sessions Court for illegal entry.
In another case, three men were penalised for committing drug-related offences.
Anthony Tsen, Charie Abdullah and Remigius Gadius, separately admitted to taking syabu and amphetamine at different locations in Penampang and here between June 30, 2020 and Feb 19 this year.
Tsen was ordered to pay a fine of RM2,800 or six months’ jail while Remigius was fined RM1,500 or six months’ jail.
They were also ordered to be placed under police supervision for two years.
Charie, a Filipino, was jailed seven months and ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.
The three had committed an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act which carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years’ jail, or both, on conviction.
