PETALING JAYA: An aide to Annuar Musa says the federal territories minister has already paid the fine for flouting movement control rules in February this year.

Annuar’s press secretary Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz confirmed this when contacted by FMT today, saying “Yes, it’s true. It has already been paid”.

FMT is waiting for more details from Faisal on the amount of the fine and when it was paid.  Earlier today, Kuala Lumpur police chief Saiful Azly Kamaruddin also told FMT that the Ketereh MP had paid off the fine, although he was unsure when exactly.

On Feb 17, Saiful said the case would be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers after the cops took Annuar’s statement for two hours, a day earlier.

At the time, he said Annuar had yet to be fined for the offence.

In a photograph widely shared on social media in February, Annuar was seen eating at the same table with six others during a visit to a community centre project in Cheras.

Under movement control order regulations, only two people are allowed to a table when eating out.

In a Facebook post, Annuar said he only “sat down for a moment” and moved away after realising that the organisers had not followed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
