FORMER Chief Ministers Tan Sri Harris Mohd Salleh
(pic) and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal were among those who paid their last respects to former State Secretary under the Mustapha-led Usno State Government, Tan Sri Richard Lind, at the Fook Liew Siew Funeral Parlour.
Lind passed away at his home in Signal Hill, Kota Kinabalu, on March 20 at age 98. He is best remembered for his role in erecting the Oath Stone (Batu Sumpah) in Keningau, a year after Sabah agreed to the formation of Malaysia.

The Oath Stone is believed to be the only such instance in the world, particularly the Commonwealth, where a community’s consent on independence was secured only after having their demands cast in stone, in this case federal assurances on freedom of religion, respect for native customs and State jurisdiction over lands.
The funeral service would be held at 10am today (Wednesday) at Fook Liew Siew Funeral Parlour (VIP Room, 2nd Floor) and thereafter proceed to the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mile 4 ½ Penampang for burial.
