Jail, cane for taking drugs repeatedly
Kota Kinabalu: A man who took drugs for the third time was jailed five years’ and ordered given a stroke of the cane.

Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz meted out the sentence against Feddlee Ab’din @ Mohd Faddlee Ab’din who pleaded guilty to the charge against him on Tuesday.

He was found taking drugs at midnight on Sept 7, 2020 after his urine tested positive for drugs at the Sipitang police station.

Investigation revealed that Feddlee has two previous convictions in 2018 and 2019 for drug use.

The offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39C(1) of the same Act provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court ordered Feddlee to serve the jail sentence from the date of his conviction, which was on Tuesday.

After completing his jail sentence, the court ordered Feddlee to be placed under police supervision for two years.

In the same court, a 32-year-old man was jailed four months for entering the State illegally.

Sali Andai admitted to entering the State without any document.

The court ordered Sali to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his jail sentence and his biometric data to be recorded.
