Indonesian police ramp up security for Easter Sunday after terror attacks
JAKARTA: Chief of the Traffic Corps of the National Police Inspector General Istiono stated that there will an increase of armed personnel in several vital locations.

The effort will be carried out in an attempt to safeguard the Good Friday celebration on April 2 and Easter on April 4, 2021.

In addition, the increase in security is also related to the recent attack on the National Police Headquarter and the suicide bombing at the Cathedral Church in Makassar.

Istiono said that the additional personnel is to allow the public to celebrate Easter safely.

As previously reported, married couple identified as L and YSF, also known as D, carried out suicide bombing attack at the gates of the Cathedral Church in Makassar on Sunday, March 28, 2021. In the attack 20 people were injured.

Just three days later on March 31, 2021, an individual identified as Zakiah Aini carried out an attack by shooting Police guarding the National Police Headquarter. Zakiah fired six shots before being shot and killed.
