Kota Kinabalu: The American-Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) disagrees with Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong’s (pic) contention that the cabotage policy has nothing to do with why technology giants Google and Facebook skipped Malaysia in favour of Singapore in their plans to install undersea cables.

Voon as AmCham CEO Siobhan Das said the cabotage exemption repeal comes at a particularly critical time when Malaysia seeks to compete for digital infrastructure investments and drive economic recovery.
