Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with molesting a woman, last month.
Samrin Nesli pleaded not guilty to committing the crime against a 22-year-old woman by touching her breast at 2.20pm on March 25 at a restaurant near the Putatan Maybank.
The offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishment, on conviction.
The prosecution offered no bail as Samrin has no valid identification document.
Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie set May 10 for pre-trial case management and ordered Samrin to be remanded further.
Meanwhile, two men were penalised for committing drug-related offences.
Saizul Rahman was jailed seven months after he admitted to having syabu on Aug 4, last year here as framed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both on conviction.
The other man, Nasrudin Alimudin was handed eight months jail after he pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to taking syabu and amphetamine here in February.
Nasrudin had committed an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or a jail term of up to two years on convictions.
