Kota Kinabalu: Sabah can lead to distinguish itself as an autonomous region by re-starting its own local election independent of the West Malaysian centric system that suspended the third vote in matters of governance in 1965, a mere two years after the formation of Malaysia. Therefore, Sabah should initiate moves to restore local government elections for major councils, and consider reintroducing divisional level governments to manage Sabah’s vast areas effectively, and the financial means to carry out the elections should be affordably within revenue means of most towns.
