5 Sabah MPs abstained; 11 supported
Kota Kinabalu: Five Sabah Members of Parliament (MPs) abstained from voting when the controversial Bill to amend the Federal Constitution that supposedly downgraded the status of Sabah and Sarawak to that of other states in Malaya was passed in Parliament on July 13, 1975, a Daily Express check on the Dewan’s Hansard revealed.

They were former Chief Minister Tun Datu Haji Mustaffa Datu Harun who was MP for Marudu, Ajad Oyong (Labuk-Sugut), Pengiran Tahir Pengiran Patera (Kimanis), Stephen Robert Evans (Keningau) and Haji Abdul Rashid Haji Jais (Ulu Padas).
