Kota Kinabalu: The court fixed June 4 for ruling the case involving two men charged with possession of 34.2gm of syabu.Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for Rahmat Matali, 42, and Daud Yusof, 51, on Tuesday for decision at the end of the defence stage.
Rahmat and Daud are accused of having the drug behind the hospital in Kuala Penyu at 12.40pm on Dec 27, 2018.
The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping, on conviction.
The prosecution had called seven witnesses during the hearing while the defence had called several witnesses.
Counsel Datuk Norbert Chin defended Rahmat while Daud was represented by counsel Bartholomew Jingulam.
In another case, a man was jailed five years and ordered to receive a stroke of the cane for taking syabu repeatedly.
Wong Ming Teck @ Rudy Wong pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim to the charge against him.
Wong was found taking drugs on Sept 1, 2020 after his urine tested positive for drugs at the police station here.
He has several convictions for taking drug.
The court ordered Wong to serve the jail from the date of his arrest and placed under police supervision for two years after completing his jail sentence.
