Wong is accused of breaching the trust given to him as a salesperson of Etika Sdn Bhd, which entrusted him with the sales proceeds belonging to the company by taking the money for his own use.

The offence allegedly took place between Sept 4, 2019 and Feb 14, 2020, at Etika’s office, here.

The offence under Section 408 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between a year and 14 years, and with whipping, and liable to fine, upon conviction.

The court set June 9 for case management and offered Wong bail of RM8,000 in two sureties with conditions to report to the police station twice a month and not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses.

In the same court, the plea of a 41-year-old man charged with causing hurt to a woman while robbing her was rejected for the second time.

Ummu rejected Harold Gan Vui Kuant’s plea after he disputed some of the facts of the case.

During proceedings, Gan had earlier admitted to the charge against him but informed the court that he did not kick the alleged victim.

Gan is accused of assaulting Wong Hui Wen while robbing her of handphone at 8.50pm on March 17 this year at the garbage collection point near the Speedmart 99 in Ranau.

His case management was fixed for May 25 this year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Adibah Saiful Bahri appeared for the prosecution.
