Kota Kinabalu: The State Government called on all parties, especially government-linked companies (GLCs), to increase the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the CSR programme is a commendable step as it helps the needy, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as disasters such as fires, floods and others.

Bung, who is also Works Minister, said CSR programmes can help ease the financial burden of people when the economy and the people’s wellbeing are affected by the pandemic.
“I would like to call on all parties to increase the implementation of CSR programmes that can help more people in need,” he said after receiving a food and financial basket contribution of RM80,000 from Amanah Iktiar Malaysia (Aim) for distribution to asnaf in the Kinabatangan parliamentary constituency, here, on Friday.
Aim Executive Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Ukin presented the contribution, accompanied by Aim Sabah Regional Manager Jahinin Siman and senior officers.
Bung, who is also Kinabatangan MP, said the support of all parties, especially the GLCs in the State, will complement the Government’s efforts to channel immediate aid to the needy in these challenging times.

Lajim, who is also Bersatu Supreme Council member, said the programme was part of Aim’s corporate social responsibility to the people, especially those affected by disasters and facing challenges when the Covid-19 pandemic was still raging.

“We will continue this programme which has been implemented in several districts such as in Kota Kinabalu, Kota Marudu, Beaufort and Kuala Penyu,” said Lajim.
