Kota Kinabalu: Five members of the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group – one of them high on the Philippine Government’s wanted list – were killed in a shootout with police in a mangrove forest in Beaufort Tuesday morning.Police believe the group that made global headlines with the kidnapping of scores of international tourists in Sipadan in 2000 and dared to return and carry out some 20 more since – have made Sabah’s west and interior areas their safe havens.
