KK, P’pang areas hit by floods
The floods in Kampung Tanaki, Penampang.
Kota Kinabalu: Several low-lying areas around the city centre, Penampang and Putatan were inundated by floods after continuous heavy rain from 1pm on Wednesday.

The public began sharing information and pictures of flooded streets in their areas on social media.

The water level rose to knee-level in some places and only large vehicles could pass through some areas.

Sabah Civil Defence Force Department Director Col. Sharudin Md Zain said the flash floods, including in Penampang, were under control.

“Surveys of the affected locations along with various other rescue agencies were made to assess the situation,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the relief centre (PPS) at Dewan DSP Mohd Dun Danir, Beaufort was closed at 4pm on Wednesday after all victims were allowed to return to their respective homes.
