Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court, Wednesday, with trafficking 51.63gm of syabu.
Mohd Shukri Packer Mohidden, 28, and Mohd Saiful Ridzuan Isa, 24, were accused of committing the offence at 5.30pm on May 5 this year at Jalan Lintas, Luyang.
However, no plea was taken from them.
The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment with either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes, upon conviction.
The prosecution applied for a new mention date pending the chemist’s report and objected bail as the charge has no provision for such.
Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles fixed June 25 for mention and ordered the accused to be remanded further.
The duo were represented by counsel Dominic Chew.
In another case, a 28-year-old Filipino was sentenced to 15 months’ jail for causing damages to a lorry.
Bocoi’s case came up for pre-trial case management Wednesday but he changed his plea to guilty.
He admitted to breaking the windscreen of a lorry belonging to Tan Seng Teck at 9pm on April 4 at the Kayu Madang landfill, Sepanggar causing loss of RM1,000.
Bocoi was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between one year and five years or with fine or with both, upon conviction.
