Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court will decide July 19 on the trial date for the continuation of the case involving a former Sarawak-based lawyer charged with committing sexual offence against his girlfriend’s daughter.
Kueh Kay Foo allegedly committed physical sexual harassment against the 11-year-old girl by hugging her and holding her thigh at an apartment in Penampang in May 2019.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
Kueh was released on a bail of RM20,000 with RM15,000 deposited in a local surety.
Meanwhile, the same court will also on the same day the date for the continuation of the trial involving a 40-year-old chef charged with raping his ex-employee in a hotel room.
The court set the date for Beitohlee Justine, in view of the implementation of the full Movement Control Order by the government.
Beitohlee is accused of raping the 24-year-old woman between 8pm and 7am on Feb 18 to 20, 2019 at a hotel room in Luyang, here.
The offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.
Meanwhile, a man was charged with taking drug repeatedly.
However, no plea was taken from Hanif Saidi after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz.
Hanif is accused of taking the drug on June 16 in Ranau. He has two previous convictions for taking drug.
The court set July 22 for mention of his case.
