Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Squash Association (SSA) have been given a boost with the addition of three squash courts currently under construction next to their five existing courts situated at Likas Stadium.
SSA President Datuk Charles O Pang hopes that with the extra new courts, more Sabah youth will take up squash as their main sport.
“Hopefully the additional courts will provide an opportunity to allow more young players to take up the sport in line with our long term development programme.
“At the same time, we believe bigger scale national level tournaments can also be organised by us here in the future,” he said on Monday.
Meanwhile, Pang and his deputy Lai Pak Peng accompanied by Sabah Sports Board engineer Ag Mohd Taufiq Ag Ali, Josue Lozitin from the contractor Alamega Konsult and other Sabah Sports Board officials went for a site inspection recently to ensure the new courts are being built in accordance with World Squash Federation (WSF) standards.
