Ranau man missing since wet New Year's day found dead believed drowned

Kota Kinabalu: A man who had been missing since New Year's day was found dead today believed to have drowned in a Ranau river which had risen amid the weekend's wet spell.

Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Masidi Manjun said the body of the 65-year-old old man from Kg Tinanom was found in a river by a a search-and-rescue team at 1.50 pm today.

"He has gone out to check his animal traps at nearby forest on 1/1/22," Masidi said on Twitter.

"PDRM was informed on 3/1 when villagers failed to find him. It’s believed he drowned at the flooded river."
