MMEA rescues 15 from sinking boat

SANDAKAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rescued seven lecturers from Tawi-Tawi Polytechnic College in the Philippines, as well as eight crew members from the MV Dayang Jubaira, when their boat sank on Jan 8.

The victims comprised 13 men and two women.

Sandakan Zone MMEA Deputy Director of Operations, Commander Ahmad Firdaus Shaari, said all the victims were rescued after Esscom provided information on the incident.
