Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 31 people or 19.2 per cent of the 161 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Sabah on Monday were youngsters aged below 12 who are not yet eligible for vaccination.
In view of this, he reminded everyone to follow the Ministry of Health’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and advice at all times in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“Parents and adult family members who live with children are urged to be careful to avoid being infected and accidentally bring the virus home,” he said.
As of Sunday, Sabah’s R-naught (RO) infectious rate rose to 1.07 compared to the national rate of 0.98.
Meanwhile, Sabah’s Covid-19 cases dropped by 37 on Monday to 161 compared to Sunday’s 198.
The current situation in all districts shows a stabilisation phase except for a few districts where daily cases fluctuate sharply almost daily.
Among them is Kota Kinabalu (29 cases), which saw a drop of 16 cases on Monday, even though it is still the district that recorded the highest number of new cases in Sabah.
Ranau (28 cases) again recorded a high number of cases, including six new cases from the Perkasa Hotel Cluster. No new cases were recorded in eight districts and less than 10 new cases in 14 districts. Of the 161 new cases Monday, 158 were in Categories One and Two, one case in Category Three and two cases in Category Four.
No new clusters and Covid-19 deaths were recorded on Monday. A total of 219 Covid-19 patients were discharged, while 403 remained hospitalised, 333 are at low-risk quarantine centres and two at temporary detention centres.
Thirty-two people are in the Intensive Care, while 14 require ventilation aid. A total of 23 patients in Stage Four and Stage Five are those without complete vaccines.
