244 new Covid cases in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 244 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, a drop of 13 compared to 257 cases on Thursday, and no death. 

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this brought to the State’s cumulative cases to 243,739. 

“Penampang topped the list with 50 cases (+31), followed by Kota Kinabalu with 44 (-21), Ranau 27 (+12), Kota Belud 19 (+10), Papar 16 (- 1) and Tuaran 14 (-19). 

“The increase in Penampang is quite high, more than double the number on Thursday and all these six districts recorded double-digit new cases.

“Eighteen districts recorded single-digit cases, while Semporna, Kunak and Tongod did not record any new cases,” he said in a statement, Friday.

Of the 244 cases, Masidi said 241 were in Category 1 and 2, two cases in Category 3, one case in Category 4 and no cases in Category 5.

He said a total of 142 cases or 58.20pc are from close contact screenings, followed by 80 cases or 32.79pc and 22 cases or 9.01pc from other screenings.

He also said 21 children aged between six and 11 were infected with Covid-19, followed by 12 children aged between 1 and 5 and 15 teenagers aged between 12 and 17.
