Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases dip-ped to 163 on Monday from 265 the day earlier, of which 76 per cent comprise those fully vaccinated.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said of the 163 cases, 13 had received their booster shots, while 111 had completed both doses of the vaccine. 31 were ineligible for the vaccine and eight were unvaccinated.
One death was recorded in Penampang, while no new clusters were identified.
On the caseload, Masidi said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 50 cases, followed by Penampang (34), Ranau (20), Putatan (13), Papar (7), Keningau (7), Tuaran (6) and Kota Marudu (5).
“The tally is low in most districts, with 16 districts recording single-digit cases. There are no new cases in seven districts.
“Only four districts recorded two-digit cases, namely Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Ranau and Putatan,” said Masidi.
He said 53 cases were sporadic infections while 97 cases were close contacts, which indicate a lack of standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance among the community.
He added that 161 out of the 163 caseload were category one and two infections, while one case is in category three and one is in category four. There are no category five infections.
Some 227 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 769 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
Masidi said 31 patients are under critical care with 27 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/repurposed critical care and four in the open ward while nine patients needed ventilator support.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 3,609 individuals were vaccinated on Jan 16, of which 3,593 were adults and 16 were teenagers.
“Some 2,452,591 individuals have completed their first dose, of which 76.7 per cent were adults. Some 2,408,201 individuals have completed both doses of the vaccine, of which 75.98 per cent were adults,” he said.
He added that 336,912 teenagers have received their first dose, whereas 312,297 teenagers have been fully vaccinated thus far, which is 71.96 per cent of the teenage population.
