Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded five new Omicron Covid-19 cases including the state's first two local infections today according to a statement by Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. Labuan registered four new Omicron patients.
The statement indicated Sabah's Omicron cases now totalled six - four import cases and two local ones. Previously, Sabah had only one Omicon case, an import one, which was in Sandakan's Covid-19 cluster named Millenium Saudi and linked to umrah pilgrims and their close contacts.
Daily Express has contacted Sabah health authorities for the location/s of the new Omicron cases.
Labuan, meanwhile, now had a total of five Omicron cases - one import and four local cases.
The new cases were part of 186 latest Omicon cases detected between Jan 14 and 18 nationwide. No other variant-of-concern cases like the Delta, Beta and Alpha as well as new variant-of-interest cases were detected in that period nationwide.
There were now 439 Omicron cases in total nationwide - 385 import and 54 local.
