Kota Kinabalu: The State Government’s capacity to allocate RM164.12 million for educational and religious development gives hope that the implementation of related programmes can be further expanded.
Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Sabah Secretary General Edward Linggu Bukut said the allocation announced by Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor could derive solutions to problems faced by students living far from school.
“There are students from various remote villages in the hills and islands who need additional school facilities,”
Linggu said this when met after Hajiji officiated the Sabah International Business and Economic Summit (SIBES) 2022, here, Tuesday, which was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan.
Linggu, who is also the Chairman of the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS), is confident that the programmes implemented under the allocation can include the construction of accommodation facilities and transportation for students.
According to Linggu, many students in reality could not afford to stay in hostels, forcing their families to spend beyond their means.
In making the announcement, Hajiji said the allocation would be channelled to various relevant government agencies and education bodies to help improve the quality of human capital and the people’s wellbeing.
