Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has approved Chinese New Year visiting activities and receptions but only for the fully vaccinated.
The State Government issued standard operating procedures tonight for Chinese New Year celebrations from Jan 31 to Feb 15.
Chinese New Year receptions are invitations only and attendance is at the most 50 percent of capacity, allowing for one-metre social distancing.
The MySejahtera application or an attendance log book must be provided by the hosts.
Family reunion dinners on Jan 31, prayer rituals on Feb 1 and 2, Hokkien Clan Special Prayers on Feb 8 and 9, and Chap Goh Mei Prayers on Feb 15 are also permitted.
From Jan 31 to Feb 15, dragon/unicorn/lion/tiger dance performances are permitted on the condition that the dance troupes are fully vaccinated, a one-meter physical distancing between guests is maintained, face masks worn and children under the age of 12 are not permitted to participate in the performances.
During the Chinese New Year celebration season, police clearance is required for dance group movements.
