SANDAKAN: A Filipino was found dead with stab wounds on his chest at a hut near Bridge 15, Kg Sim-Sim, here, Monday morning.

Sandakan police received a call from the public regarding the incident about 7.40am and a team from the Criminal Investigation Division, Sandakan IPD rushed to the scene and found the body of the 69-year-old with traces of blood on his chest.

Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin, who confirmed this, urged the public who have information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.

He said the motive and cause of the incident are under investigation.

The victim, a small-scale vegetable trader who was married with two children, was found dead by his son who went to the hut at 6am.

The victim was last seen alive about 5.30pm on Sunday when his son met and talked to him in front of his stall.
