TAWAU: Police have arrested nine local men for allegedly brawling at Kubota Square, here, Friday which went viral on social media.

Acting Tawau police chief Superintendent Nor Azizulkifli Mansor said all the suspects, including one with a previous criminal record involving open gambling houses, have been remanded for four days from today.

Four of the men suffered minor injuries. All the suspects were aged between 21 and 33.

According to Nor Azizulkifli, the arrests were made following a public complaint and confirmation of clips of the fight.

He said the fracas was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding inside a cafe before the fight broke out outside it.
